For the first time since 2008, the national champions of Division 3 baseball hail from the New England region!
After finishing as the No. 1 team in the national rankings for the final two weeks of the regular season, Eastern Connecticut State will hold that title forever in 2022 after completing the NCAA Division 3 College World Series with five wins in five days.
The Warriors earned a pair of Tuesday wins over defending champion Salisbury -- 11-6 and 3-2 -- to finish at the top of the heap for the fifth time in the illustrious history of the program. They concluded a 49-3 season with 23 consecutive wins, matching a program-record win streak.
“That sounds really special,” said Brian Hamm, the Little East Coach of the Year who was in his fourth year (third full season due to COVID) at the helm of the Eastern program. “It’s part of the tradition at our university. We’re really proud to represent the university, and to get one for all the people back home is very special.”
