College championship weekend: What to watch in the D2/D3 tournaments

They didn’t know it, but the schedule makers around New England have put together an exciting final weekend of playoff baseball with so much still to be decided.

In Division 3, just three of the 13 NCAA regionally ranked teams are out of conference tournament championship contention as of Thursday.

Of the conferences represented in the rankings, only the NEWMAC and NECC champions have been crowned.

Despite its NEWMAC title loss, Babson remains second in the latest Region I Rankings, meaning that it is in a strong position to hear its name called for an at-large bid when the tournament field is announced on Monday. Three of the final four NESCAC teams, two Little East and three CCC teams are all regionally ranked as they continue championship hopes.
