Just when we heard college coaches weren't recruiting high school players anymore, New England college coaches went ahead and totally redeemed themselves.
We have now counted 40 new college commitments in the last two weeks, and it is a certainty that we missed some. We expected the Class of 2026 commitments to come fast and furious after Aug. 1, but that has not come to fruition. Instead, Class of 2025 prospects are still rapidly committing to D1 schools. The D2 and D3 commitments have picked up as well.
We are still wrapping our heads around this trend, but one thing we can say, for sure, is that college coaches are offering commitments later in the game for high school prospects. If you're a college baseball hopeful, expect offers to come in before your senior year -- no earlier. The best-of-the-best might have different experiences, but look at the list below to see that D1 dreams remain intact even if you haven't heard from a D1 recruiter into the summer before your senior year.
