The path from New England to Vanderbilt remains open under Commodores head coach Tim Corbin.
Norwalk, Conn., native Gavin Chakar '28 announced his commitment to Vanderbilt last week, marking the second New England prospect in the Class of 2028 to commit to the SEC powerhouse. Lyman Hall (Conn.) right-hander Liam Laffin '28 announced his Vanderbilt commitment in September.
Corbin, a native of Wolfeboro, N.H., has recruited New England prospects since becoming the Vanderbilt coach in 2003. New England prospects like Ryan Flaherty (Portland, Maine) and Tyler Beede (Hudson, Mass.) parlayed careers at Vanderbilt into high draft selections and MLB careers.
Corbin has continued to stock his roster with a couple of New England prospects seemingly every year. This year's roster includes Wyatt Nadeau (Gorham, Maine) and Connor Fennell (Londonderry, N.H.).
