The start of the college baseball season is only a week away for several New England teams, and many freshmen are preparing for the significant jump in the level of competition.
With increased roster sizes coming out of the pandemic, it could be more difficult for freshmen to make sizable impacts as they battle for roles with more experienced players. Many D1 rosters still have a mix of fifth-year seniors due to the loss of the 2020 season.
That being said, several freshmen emerged during fall and winter workouts as potential immediate impact players.
