As our region’s 19 Division 1 programs continue to point their eyes towards the 2022 season beginning next February, New England Baseball Journal is taking one final look back at the stars of the summer. The summer of 2021 marked a return to normalcy for college players throughout the region. The Cape Cod League and NECBL resumed action after a year off due to the pandemic, while the Futures League returned to a full schedule following last year’s COVID-shortened regular season in July and August.
As usual, all three of New England’s summer circuits were filled with talent hailing from within the region and beyond in 2021. Virtually every major conference in the country was represented.
Our summer reviews have already featured All-NEBJ teams from the NECBL and FCBL, the FCBL’s top rising freshman position players and pitchers, and much more here online and in the recently released Fall 2021 issue of the NEBJ print magazine.
The first of a two-post series focuses on a pitcher to watch from each of the region’s schools that performed this summer on the Cape, in the NECBL or FCBL and will look to build upon their successes in 2022. Position players will be covered separately.
