The weekend that was for New England’s Division 1 college baseball teams was not without dramatics.
Sunday’s action featured Boston College scoring 10 unanswered runs to beat Auburn, win its third straight series and rise to No. 13 in Baseball America’s latest Top 25, marking the highest national ranking in program history. The Eagles return home on Tuesday to face Maine, the authors of an eight-run ninth inning in its third of four season-opening wins at Merrimack.
The dramatics started on Saturday with a Northeastern win down in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Season-opening weeks for UMass and Central Connecticut State also included victories, while UConn posted two wins in its first three games during a tournament at Coastal Carolina and Rhode Island swept its first series on home turf.
