As we near the midway point of April and this unique college baseball season as a whole, this past weekend featured the start of conference play for four more of New England’s Division 1 teams and a full slate of action around the region.
The best start in Fairfield program history continued with four more MAAC wins, while two Northeast Conference programs completed sweeps, and Northeastern and UConn both did the same as they reached the all-important conference portion of their respective schedules for the first time. A strong Rhode Island club also picked up a pair of wins during its inaugural A-10 weekend of 2021.
In addition, Maine returned to the winning track with three victories in America East play and Central Connecticut won twice more to keep within striking distance of Bryant at the top of the NEC standings just one weekend before they are scheduled to meet head-to-head for three crucial games in New Britain.
This week’s edition of New England Baseball Journal’s Monday morning roundup covers all of those series and the rest of the regional action from the past weekend.
