Who could have possibly imagined the struggles that Dartmouth — a longtime Ivy League championship challenger — went through in 2023?
A season after finishing third in the standings, the Big Green returned with an experienced roster that was surely worthy of claiming a bid to the first-ever Ivy League Tournament. The 3-38 season and 27-game losing streak within were nothing short of unfathomable.
The slate has been wiped clean. Longtime skipper Bob Whalen (Needham, Mass.) is excited about the club that he has seen develop so far.
“In the fall and preseason, you’re still building fundamentals and trying to evaluate, but we’ll find out who we are pretty quickly when we open up (Friday) at Sam Houston, which was a regional team last year and has a really strong program,” Whalen said. “But the work ethic has been great, and we’re very pleased with what the team is doing and how they're doing it.”
