No team in New England is entering 2024 with higher expectations than Northeastern.
With returning All-American center fielder and projected first-round draft pick Mike Sirota at the helm of an ultra-talented lineup, the Huskies look to build upon the winningest season in program history, having reached their third consecutive Coastal Athletic Association title game and clinched an NCAA berth for the third time in the past five tournaments in 2023.
However, there is business to finish for 10th-year coach Mike Glavine’s (Billerica, Mass.) club following its losses during both of those postseason stages.
“The biggest thing I learned from this team this fall is they’re hungry,” Glavine said. “We didn’t accomplish our goals last year. As good as the season was, we didn’t win a championship or get to a regional final. We failed in some areas that we set as goals. So, these guys are hungry and they know there’s some unfinished business. I think that attitude was evident in practice and the weight room every single day.”
