Entering the 2024 season, Holy Cross coach Ed Kahovec is excited to have his team’s roster in a place that it hasn’t been in a few years.
Much-improved depth on the position player side will hopefully allow the Crusaders to withstand the rigors of a Division 1 season, especially after injuries greatly factored into the midseason struggles that dropped them to the bottom of the Patriot League.
Alongside reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Year Jack Toomey (Wellesley, Mass.) and two-way standout Sean Scanlon, the lineup has lengthened considerably with the integration of one of Baseball America’s 11 under-the-radar recruiting classes to watch.
“An area that we identified in recruiting and showed in the fall was the depth on the position side, which has definitely been short the past couple of years. When an injury hit us, we really struggled to recover from that,” Kahovec said. “Those positions have been identified and taken care of with impact-type players.”
