As the New England weather warms up, we are closer and closer to a full slate of baseball action in the region.

The majority of local teams are still completing their spring break trips, playing elsewhere in the south and west, and either finishing non-conference play or beginning conference play on the road, but a pair of weekend series will be played at home this weekend. Thus, fans will have a chance to catch some live action in their own backyard.

In addition to games at Northeastern and Brown, America East rivals UMass Lowell and Maine will join Boston College in starting league play this weekend, while Merrimack and Sacred Heart inch closer to starting their home schedules as they head to the Empire State for non-conference tilts.

Get ready for the weekend ahead with this edition of New England Baseball Journal’s Division 1 Primer.
