The second weekend of the Division 1 college baseball season not only saw five more New England programs take the field for the first time, but also featured an exciting upset victory that shook up the Top 25, the continuation of a longstanding spring tradition, and plenty more action spanning the country.
Four of the local teams that just got their seasons underway hail from the Ivy League, and one was able to muster its first victory going away. A high-powered offensive weekend also saw four other double-digit scoring days lead to inaugural wins.

By next week, all 19 of the region’s Division 1 programs will have thrown the first pitch. Central Connecticut begins defense of its Northeast Conference championship when it travels to the Central Virginia Classic this coming weekend, starting Friday at William & Mary.
