Coaches often say that pitching can be ahead of hitting at this time of the year, but the bats were plenty involved in a number of games -- both on the winning and losing side -- involving New England teams this past weekend. New England Baseball Journal’s Weekend Roundup is here to tell some of the key tales.

All 19 Division 1 clubs in the region are officially in action now following Harvard’s debut at Alabama. However, the weekend didn’t go as well for the reigning Ivy League champions as it did for some other teams.

At least two New England clubs scored double-digit runs en route to a victory on all three full days of action (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). The weekend capped off with four such games as Boston College posted its second straight outburst against a fellow regional foe down south and Northeastern extended its winning streak to seven games with a 17-run affair in Florida.

It’s time to recap all this and much more from the third weekend of Division 1 baseball play.
