Southern New Hampshire and Franklin Pierce have ruled the Division 2 landscape in New England for well over a decade.
There’s no reason to predict that the 2024 season won’t bring more of the same, but coach Nick Callini (Westfield, Mass.) believes that his American International ballclub is ready to continue its steps towards crashing that party.
After winning 23 games and returning to the postseason as the third-place team in the Northeast-10 Conference’s Northeast Division a year ago, AIC is looking to keep a seat at that table in one of the nation’s elite conferences.
“I think there are so many things to be excited about with this team,” Callini said. “First and foremost, it’s a great group of guys that want to put (AIC) back on the map to where it was years and years ago. … There’s a possibility for this to be a real special group.”
