Bob DeFelice spent the past 54 seasons building the Bentley University baseball program into the Northeast-10 Conference competitor that it is today.
Back in May, DeFelice (Winthrop, Mass.) officially retired from his post as the only skipper the Falcons had ever known. No baseball coach at any NCAA level had a longer tenure than DeFelice, who guided the program since its inception in 1969.
Of the 500-plus players DeFelice coached at Bentley, Mike Hill (East Bridgewater, Mass.) still stands above the rest.
“He’s definitely the best player we’ve had here,” DeFelice said after announcing in February that the 2022 season would be his last. “He had unbelievable ability, and his drive separated him. He played here for four years, and he played professionally for a while, came back and started working part-time.”
