Confidence.
If Assumption University senior Cole Chudoba (Oxford, Conn.) has gained anything over the past year on the pitcher’s mound, it has been confidence.
Chudoba earned seven wins and a spot on the All-Northeast-10 third team in 2019, but he struggled — logging a 7.06 ERA in 21⅔ innings — during a stint with the Futures League’s Worcester Bravehearts that summer. The experience against a new level of competition offered the Division 2 right-hander plenty of learning lessons, all of which certainly paid off last spring.
“Last year was big for us because we had played in the NCAA regionals and returned the core of our team, so we were really excited for the season,” Chudoba said. “I was focused on transforming from being a thrower into more of a pitcher and felt I could throw any pitch in any count and get outs.
