D3 Coaches Poll: Little East Conference program takes over top spot

The New England Baseball Journal Division 3 Coaches Poll features a new team at the top for the first time during the 2021 season.

After Southern Maine held the top spot in our first in-season ranking on March 31 and preseason No. 1 Babson did so for the last two weeks, one of the Huskies’ longtime rivals from the Little East Conference returns to the top with a club that continues to surge in the standings with an undefeated mark in league play.

Eastern Connecticut also leaped into the national rankings picture alongside three more of the region’s top teams. Outside of the top spot, the remainder of NEBJ’s top-10 remains largely the same with just one new addition from a week ago and still includes an undefeated NESCAC team. Five other clubs did receive double-digit points in consideration for a ranked spot, the second-most this season.

For more D3 coverage, check out NEBJ’s preview hub including links to features, conference players to watch lists, our Preseason Coaches Poll and All-NEBJ Team, a rundown of what to expect this spring, and more.
