Brothers Dante and Mariano Ricciardi are at opposite points in their collegiate baseball careers: Dante is entering his junior season at Bryant University, while Mariano heads to Florida Atlantic University this fall.
As the sons of J.P. Ricciardi — the former Toronto Blue Jays general manager and current assistant to New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson — they most certainly have lived baseball lives. But Worcester, Mass., always has been home.
Now their journeys in the sport have again led to the same place, back home, as the brothers are teammates again on the Futures Collegiate Baseball League’s Worcester Bravehearts.
"It’s a pretty close core, because we grew up together and went to high school together, so being a three-year veteran on this team means a lot to me," said Dante, who joined the Bravehearts in time for the team’s second FCBL championship in as many years of existence in 2015, following his senior year at Worcester Academy.
