DEERFIELD, Mass. — Practice still was more than a half-hour away from starting up. Headmaster’s Field stood quiet except for one solitary figure who was using this time to get a little conditioning work in.
For those who know Henry Gustavson, it should come as no surprise to see him be the first one out on the field.
The ace pitcher for Deerfield Academy, Gustavson has spent numerous hours this past offseason, and in season, fine-tuning his 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame in an effort to get better at his craft.
For Gustavson, it always has been about staying one step ahead of the curve.
