New England’s college baseball season came to an end last weekend with three Division 1 clubs competing in different NCAA regional brackets. UConn appeared in its second regional final since 2011, falling to Washington after eliminating host Coastal Carolina.
The Huskies earned their New England-leading 37th win of the season over the No. 15 Chanticleers, 6-5, to dig out of the loser’s bracket, but a 9-6 loss to Washington ended their season later Sunday. UConn was ranked in the top-25 nationally for seven consecutive weeks to end the season and set a program record with 23 wins away from Storrs, two of which came against Coastal in Conway, S.C.
