As the month of March winds down, the college baseball season is heating up for New England’s Division 2 and 3 college baseball teams.
The 2020 season was shut down well earlier than normal -- ending with a March 16 game between D3 non-conference foes Nichols and Keene State -- due to the COVID-19 pandemic, creating an incredibly long offseason for ballplayers throughout the region. The summer was largely subdued, and many teams’ usual fall and winter schedules were altered.
Finally, though, we’ve heard the call to “play ball” again.
Some of the region’s clubs at both levels already opened non-league play throughout this month, which is leading into conference schedules for the majority of the games played throughout the remainder of this spring. Many of those slates kick off during this upcoming weekend.
