After what will be more than a year-long delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Division 2 baseball returns to New England later this month.
Most -- if not all -- competition for Northeast-10 schools, Post (Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference) and Bridgeport (East Coast Conference) this season will come within conference schedules beginning over the final two weekends of March. Before then, Southern Connecticut State will be the first New England club to take the field as it has a four-game, non-conference series scheduled against Queens (N.Y.) this weekend.
As first pitch nears, NEBJ presents its Division 2 Preseason Top 5 as chosen by coaches throughout the region. The poll was released as part of the comprehensive college preview package in NEBJ’s Winter 2021 issue.
All five of the ranked teams entering the 2021 season come from the Northeast-10, including two current nationally-ranked programs in perennial powers and archrivals Southern New Hampshire and Franklin Pierce. Three teams play in the Northeast Division while the other two represent the Southwest.
