Jacob Studley (Wheaton Athletics)
Like six of his Wheaton (Mass.) College teammates, Jacob Studley made good use of the opportunity to get back on the field this summer in the Futures Collegiate League.
The junior outfielder from Barrington, R.I., has been a key player for the Lyons since he took home NEWMAC Rookie of the Year and All-NEWMAC first-team honors in 2019, so his success with the Brockton Rox came as no surprise to 24th-year head coach Eric Podbelski (Plymouth, Mass.).
“We weren’t surprised to see it. He’s a good hitter,” Podbelski said of Studley, who posted a .294 average, eight extra-base hits and 19 RBI; scored 20 runs in 31 games; and finished as Brockton’s second-leading hitter.
