Every baseball team needs good pitching and plenty of it. Things are no different throughout the Division 3 ranks in New England.

UMass Boston and Babson both rode deep pitching staffs to the College World Series again last spring while the top group of arms in the nation -- according to the numbers, anyway -- belonged to a New England team in the Mitchell Mariners. The latter team certainly has plenty of contenders for regional honors this season, but we’re here to take a look at some others.

With the 2020 season just getting underway, New England Baseball Journal continues its look at some of the region’s top teams and players with a watch list featuring one Pitcher of the Year candidate from each of the eight leagues that are primarily comprised of local teams.

The players featured below were strongly considered for spots on our previously released All-NEBJ Preseason Team. The top arms on “our team” were Southern Maine’s Ben Lambert (Saco, Maine) -- the Little East’s and New England Pitcher of the Year in 2019 -- and Salve Regina’s Patrick Maybach (Saunderstown, R.I.).
