New England’s top high school prospects for the 2020 MLB draft are coming into clearer focus as the rosters for the summer’s most prestigious showcase events are being finalized.
The rosters for the East Coast Pro Showcase and the Area Code Games — two showcase events widely considered the top opportunities for high school seniors to play in front of scouts — include eight New England natives. Those events are scheduled to take place over the next two weeks:
• East Coast Pro Showcase, Aug. 1-4 in Hoover, Ala.
• Area Code Games, Aug. 5-9 in Long Beach, Calif.
In addition, the roster for the Underclass Area Code Games has been finalized. That team — including a half-dozen New Englanders — consists of the top high school prospects excluding rising seniors.
