Jack Fox is a long way from home.
Despite being a Los Angeles native, Fox felt right at home in Boston upon visiting his future home ― Emerson College ― for the first time as a recruit a few years ago.
Fox has settled in so well in the Bay State that he’s now spending his summer here, too, pitching for the expansion Westfield Starfires of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.
“When I talked to Coach (Nick Vennochi), he told me I’d be starting all four years if I went there,” Fox said of his initial contact with the Division 3 school located in the heart of the Massachusetts capital. “I just thought Boston was a beautiful city when I came out to visit, so I made the decision right then and there. Emerson was the first school I saw. I just went for it.”
