Fairfield (Conn.) American Little League made history last month, becoming the first Connecticut program to reach three Little League World Series.
It was hoping to make some even bigger history in South Williamsport, Pa. — and very nearly did.
Fairfield American won three games at the LLWS, advancing to the U.S. semifinals before its summer ended with a loss to Lufkin, Texas, last month.
"We’re the No. 3 team in the country … do I need to say more?" manager Mike Randazzo told the Connecticut Post. "This is absolutely magical. You couldn’t have drawn it up any better. They should be proud."
Players and coaches returned home from Williamsport on Aug. 25 to a parade and a party. Fairfield American teams also advanced to the Little League World Series in 2010 and ’12.
