Editor’s note: This is the 10th in an offseason series profiling the region’s Division 1 baseball programs.
Aside from narrowly missing winning its second MAAC championship in the last four years, Fairfield’s 2019 season was one for the record books.
No team in program history won more games than last season’s 35, but the Stags’ week-long playoff run at Richmond County Bank Ballpark in Staten Island, N.Y., fell one run short of the ultimate goal following a 13-inning loss to in-state rival Quinnipiac.
Following the program’s fourth 30-win campaign under head coach Bill Currier (Essex Junction, Vt.), things have changed and will look a lot different when Fairfield’s challenging early-season slate kicks off Feb. 21 with the first of three games at UNC Greensboro.
