The college coaching carousel is starting to spin, now that the NCAA college baseball season is officially over with Tennessee's D1 national title.
Two recognizable names in New England college baseball circles have landed new positions in recent weeks. Jayson King, who established himself as a premier head coach during an 18-year stint at Franklin Pierce, left his head coaching post at the University of Dayton to become an assistant on Tim Corbin's staff at Vanderbilt University.
King will be replaced by his former player at Franklin Pierce, Scott Loiseau, who just spent a season under Mike Gambino at Penn State after establishing himself as a D2 program builder at Southern New Hampshire University.
More coaching changes figure to follow. Last year, two D1 programs in New England -- BC and UMass Lowell -- changed head coaches in July. Even if King and Loiseau are the biggest names, by New England standards, to change schools this summer, it would make for a noteworthy transition period.
