Four left standing as Divisions 2, 3 hit NCAA Super Regionals

By Joshua KumminsMay 24, 2019

New England College
New England College's 28 wins are a program record, and one they hope to build on at UMass Boston.

There was no shortage of excitement during the first weekend of NCAA tournament play for New England’s Division 2 and 3 teams, as their respective brackets were broken into Regional and Super Regional formats for the first time ever.

Three of the region’s four No. 1 seeds across the two levels advanced to this weekend’s best-of-three Super Regionals, with UMass Boston sweeping its regional at Monan Park, but New England College is crashing the party as well after upsetting one of the top Division 3 teams in the nation at its home park.

In their first-ever NCAA appearance, the Pilgrims are playing on the second weekend, just two wins away from a trip to Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Before Southern New Hampshire, UMass Boston, and Babson continue NCAA play on their home fields similarly in need of a pair of victories for a berth in their respective College World Series, here’s a recap of how we got here in Divisions 2 and 3.
