Just as Division 1 conference tournaments and Division 2 and 3 national tournaments commence, the summer collegiate baseball season is also about to take off from the starting line.
Another busy summer in New England kicks off with the Futures League. Wednesday marks the season opener for all eight teams, beginning a 64-game regular season that runs through the first wekeend of August.
As is typical in the summer landscape, rosters change regularly throughout the first few weeks of the season as college programs at all NCAA levels finish their conference and regional tournaments, and high school players complete their seasons. Thus, not all players will be on their respective teams from the start.
One unique aspect to the Futures League is the inclusion of top rising freshmen from New England and beyond. Those players are indicated with asterisks in the previews. Below is a team-by-team capsule look at the Futures League season:
