The high school baseball season was coming to an end across New England just about a month ago, but the turn of the calendar to summer doesn’t mean the action has slowed down.
For some of the top players in the region, the next step was right around the corner in the Futures League, which is the lone New England circuit allowing the next wave of college talent to compete in the summer before matriculating to their respective campuses.
Our next collegiate summer watch list shines the spotlight on some of the top New England native rising freshmen who are already shining at the next level during their first taste of collegiate baseball.
The list includes three Gatorade Players of the Year and multiple state champions from the past spring, as well as several members of the Westfield Starfires who currently hold first place in the league standings.
