Former Boston College slugger Chris Shaw (Lexington, Mass.), Vanderbilt outfielder Rhett Wiseman (Mansfield, Mass.) were among the first highly touted locals to make a stop in the summer circuit before getting their collegiate careers underway in an official manner.
More recently, the likes of former UConn relief ace and now-Red Sox prospect Jacob Wallace (Methuen, Mass.), Boston College infielder Sam McNulty (Cambridge, Mass.), and Maryland star Matt Shaw (Brimfield, Mass.) have gotten the call to the Futures League.
