The Los Angeles Dodgers got back to the World Series last year for the first time in 29 years, behind a cast of players recognizable to any baseball fan — Clayton Kershaw, Justin Turner and Cody Bellinger, to name a few.
One of the behind-the-scenes guys was Peter Bergeron (Greenfield, Mass.), who works in the Dodgers’ pro scouting department, evaluating drafted prospects in the minor-league systems of other organizations.
Bergeron was the brightest star to come out of Greenfield High School. A multisport standout who played five seasons in the big leagues with the Montreal Expos and still has strong roots in the community, he was back in his hometown last April, speaking at a fundraiser at the Greenfield Public Library about his playing and scouting career.
