Shortly after he took over as head coach at Groton-Dunstable High School in 2006, Matt LeBlanc joined with volunteers such as Dave Ierardi to organize an annual youth baseball clinic that runs over April vacation.
The Crusader Baseball Clinic became a chance for the high school players to pass on their skills and advice to the youngsters, and for youngsters to absorb the instruction from players they looked up to.
Two springs ago, Groton-Dunstable turned in a season for the ages, winning the Division 3 championship and becoming the first Massachusetts high school team to go undefeated in eight years.
"It’s kind of come full circle," LeBlanc said. "Some of the kids that attended that first clinic were part of that title team."
These days, it’s not so much a circle when it comes to baseball in Groton. It’s a triangle.
