Part of the fun of covering baseball year-round is identifying trends. With that in mind, one would think it would make the prospect of making predictions an easier task.
Well, it's time for me to dip my toe in the "Hot Take" pool as I attempt to make some predictions about the New England baseball scene in 2023. The difficult part about compiling lists of "bold predictions" is toeing the line between not sounding ridiculous with crazy takes and not boring the audience with obvious observations like, "Travel ball will continue to be expensive."
This list includes predictions for a couple of teams, but largely focuses on big-picture issues like MIAA policies, the future of LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Mass., and trends like verbal abuse of umpires, prep transfers reclassifying, and expanding travel ball facilities.
