Guttenplan notes: 5 impact college commitments, 2 Cape League signings

Many recruiting coordinators for Division 1 college programs around New England are focused on securing commitments from players in the Class of 2023, but that doesn't mean that there aren't a few big-name players in the Class of 2022 still looking for homes.

October is a popular month for college coaches to host recruits for campus visits and camps. It's also likely the last month of the year in which coaches can travel to local games to see prospects. Once the calendar flips to November, most New England coaches will need to travel south to get eyes on potential commits.

As such, that's why October is such a busy month in terms of recruiting. Once players move into indoor batting cages and facilities, the recruiting cycle in New England slows dramatically.

Here's a look at some important commitments from the last week.
