Milton High (Mass.) baseball players seem to have made a pact during the pandemic not to leave the public school in favor of private or prep options.
The result -- right in the middle of ISL prep baseball country -- has been the growth of one of the top public school programs in New England with 10 players on the 2022 roster currently on track to play college baseball.
"Each one of them that has success opens doors for his teammates," said fourth-year coach Brendan Morrissey. "Recruiters that come out to see our upperclassmen ask who else we have. And then our underclassmen get looks."
Morrissey, who founded Matt Duffy Baseball Academy along with former big-leaguer Matt Duffy in 2019, has manager to sustain momentum through his tenure at Milton High despite the loss of the 2020 season to the pandemic. He's had success in creating a feeder system to some of the top D1 college programs in the Northeast.
