“Playing with an edge,” showing “hustle and grit” and having an athletic background are just some of the many boxes that coaches like to check off when evaluating student-athletes who call our region home.
Jacob Humphrey (Standish, Maine) had all of that and more when he reached the height of the college recruiting process during the COVID-impacted summer of 2020, but his phone wasn’t exactly buzzing with interested coaches.
UMass Lowell’s Ken Harring didn’t mind.
