Cheshire Academy continues to flourish in preparing its players for the next level.
Under the direction of head coach Anthony Giano, the Cats have molded themselves into one of the top programs in the NEPSAC. Cheshire is littered with standout players across the diamond. The school's reputation of sending a majority of its players to college is becoming more evident with each passing season.
This year, in particular, has been quite remarkable. Of the 24 roster players, 17 have already committed to college programs.
"It's gratifying to see the dedication and talent of our players be recognized by college programs,'' said Giano, who served as an assistant under former head coach David Dykeman, before taking over the reins in September of 2021. "The number of commitments might be surprising to some, but it speaks volumes about the hard work and commitment our student athletes put into their craft. The competitiveness and depth of talent in high school baseball today make each commitment a significant achievement, and I couldn't be prouder of our players for earning these opportunities.''
