Nothing about Rohan Handa's journey to becoming an MLB Draft prospect is normal.
He's pitched only 31.2 collegiate innings over three seasons at Yale, including just four relief appearances since 2019. Since his last appearance in a college game in March of 2020, his fastball velocity has increased his fastball velocity from 82 to 97 mph.
He is the son of Indian immigrants, and he speaks three languages -- Chinese, English and Hindi. As part of his senior project at Cannon School in Charlotte, N.C., he helped create an international charity organization called "Kitaab," which promotes children's literacy and makes story books available to kids in developing countries.
Up until a few months ago, Handa figured he'd work toward a career either in international cyber security or as part of an analytics department for a professional sports organization.
