The Independent School League (ISL) baseball coaches met this week to vote on end-of-year awards such as ISL All-League and Honorable Mention selections.
Lawrence Academy (17-4-1 overall, 12-3 ISL) collected the Halsey Reginald Nash Memorial Trophy for winning the league championship. St. George's School was awarded the John "Jack" Etter Trophy for sportsmanship, while St. George's coach Justin Sellar took home the Thomas John Flaherty Plaque recognizing the honor. Governor's Academy coach James Cramphin was named ISL Coach of the Year.
ISL Most Valuable Player honors went to Lawrence Academy '22 Jack McLaughlin (.433 batting average, 3 home runs, 10 RBI; 5-1 pitching record, 1.02 ERA, 52 strikeouts) and BB&N '23 Matt Hirsch (.420 BA, 4-1 pitching record, 1.90 ERA, 47 strikeouts). ISL Top Pitcher recognition went to Groton School '22 AJ Colarusso (4-2 record, 1.67 ERA, 80 strikeouts), Tabor Academy '22 Gio Arzuaga (4-2 record, 1.37 ERA, 59 strikeouts) and Governor's Academy '23 Kellan Heney (4-1 record, 0.89 ERA, 37 strikeouts). ISL Silver Slugger honors went to Roxbury Latin '22 Mark Henshon (.479 BA, 11 doubles, 23 runs), BB&N '23 Alex Sandell (.472 BA, 1.277 OPS, 14 stolen bases) and Belmont Hill '22 Jack Winnay (.454 BA, .571 OBP, 18 RBI).
