Daniel Grapski's baseball career has been threatened twice by injuries. The Buckingham, Browne & Nichols senior right-handed pitcher sustained two extensive and career-threatening injuries, followed by extensive surgery and countless hours of grueling physical therapy.
Grapski began to ponder if baseball was still in his future, including the dream to play in college.
"Giving up was a thought in my mind at one point'' said Grapski, a native of Newton, Mass. "I was sick of working so hard for my goal to play in college, but never getting a fair chance. However, I decided I was not going to give up on my dream and was determined to take rehab very seriously.''
As a sophomore, Grapski suffered a Type IV and V stress fracture to his lower back. He began feeling pain that winter, but was told it was only muscle pain. The pain did not relent, and Grapski had an MRI, which specified the stress fractures. That news came one week before the Knights were scheduled to travel to Florida for their annual spring training trip.
