There will be no Independent School League postseason tournament in 2023, according to ISL officials contacted by New England Baseball Journal.
ISL secretary Kenny Ackerman, head coach at Tabor Academy, confirmed that league athletic directors will round out the 2023 schedule without accounting for a postseason tournament.
"To be honest, I am extremely frustrated with this, as I have been working on this proposal since 2018," Ackerman said. "So much has changed since COVID, so who knows when or if this will ever happen ... My athletic department has been putting our schedule together as it has been for past years, and there is no mention of a tournament."
Other NEPSAC leagues, such as the Founders, WNEPBL, CNEPSBL, Lakes Region and EIL, all conduct their own tournaments. Each of those league tournaments returned from a two-year hiatus last spring.
