St. Paul's School was the class of the Lakes Region League for the majority of the season. Quietly and methodically, Vermont Academy lurked in the shadows.
Vermont Academy found its moment to strike during the Lakes Region championship game. A three-run eighth inning snapped a 3-3 tie and served as the difference in a 6-3 Vermont Academy victory. It also avenged the team's only two losses of the season, both coming against St. Paul's.
Junior pitcher Dylan McCarthy was remarkable. The right-hander, who is committed to George Mason, threw six solid innings, striking out 11 Pelicans.
Cam Boardman, a senior, came on in relief, pitching the final two frames to pick up the victory.
