When spring turned to summer, Luke Broadhurst didn’t stop hitting.
The 2021 Little East Conference Player of the Year and D3baseball.com All-American third baseman from Stafford, Conn., was a leading force behind Eastern Connecticut State’s rise to the top of the New England rankings for much of the spring.
He then started the summer on a tear for the New Britain Bees of the Futures Collegiate League, hitting .337 with five home runs, 19 RBI and 24 runs scored.
“The summer was very validating because I really wanted to show the league that I could compete at a high level, playing every day at a fairly new position,” said Broadhurst, who transferred to Eastern from the University of Connecticut after three semesters. “I think I improved a lot defensively getting all those reps but also tried to stay consistent at the plate.”
