LEOMINSTER, Mass. – All Leominster needed was a bit of two-out magic.
Down 1-0 and in need of a spark with just one hit to show for their troubles in the bottom of the fourth, the Blue Devils turned to A.J. Wozniak with two outs and a runner on second.
He delivered.
The junior laced a liner to the opposite field to bring in the tying run and flip momentum back in Leominster's favor. A walk, a pitching change and another walk loaded the bases. Two hit-batsmen later, and the Blue Devils were in the driver's seat with a 3-1 lead.
Evan Pasters, who got the start on the mound for Westford, answered two pitches into the next half inning. The junior crushed a solo homer to left-center to bring the Ghosts back to 3-2.
In the bottom of the fifth, it was Wozniak coming through with two outs once again. He hammered a grounder down the third-base line for another RBI double, giving Leominster insurance with a 4-2 lead.
Here's a full recap, plus five standouts from the game.
