SHREWSBURY, Mass. – In a game full of two-out magic, Connor Secrist missed the memo.
With one out and two runners on in the bottom of the ninth, the sophomore ripped an RBI base-hit up the middle to walk it off for No. 2 St. John's Shrewsbury in a 7-6 win over No. 7 St. John's Prep in the MIAA Round of 8.
Secrist's heroics capped off a nail-biting comeback for the Pioneers.
Down to their last strike in the bottom of the seventh, trailing 6-4, Jack Forgues laced a two-RBI double to centerfield, forcing extra innings.
