The opening weekend of the MIAA D1 state tournament didn't provide any major upsets, as only one underdog -- No. 20 Weymouth -- advanced over a higher seed.
That certainly speaks to the quality of the MIAA's power ranking system, which went into place in 2022. With four first-round games remaining on June 3, there's a chance that 15 of the top 16 seeds could advance to the Round of 16.
While there haven't been many upsets, there certainly have been quality games and spectacular individual performances.
